Neil joined the Army as an RLC Military Chef in 1999. After leaving in 2004 he continued to be a chef and settled with his partner Emily and their three children.

In 2018 Neil received a public bravery award after he chased down and apprehended a man who was committing sexually assault. This attacker is now off the streets and was sentenced to 18 years imprisonment.

Tragically, in April 2021 Neil suffered a haemorrhagic stroke which would change his life. A secondary bleed meant he needed surgery on his skull, he was in a coma until June and then in July he had further surgery on his skull. COVID meant that only Emily could visit him during his time in hospital. This 200 mile round trip, along with trying parent their children was a struggle for Emily and has caused financial hardship.

Now for the good news! Neil is now home and is going from strength to strength. The consultants prognosis was that Neil would never be out of a bed, however the fighter we all know and adore is able to sit up and is working hard at trying to gain movement in his limbs.

Neil needs adjustments at home to help him with his mobility and something that would be extremely beneficial is an electric wheelchair.
